What's Discernment? And How Can it Help Me Discover God's Will for My Life?

Fr. Adam Rosinski, SJ, helps us consider the practice of Ignatian discernment and how we can apply it to our lives.

What exactly is “discernment?” It’s an important word in the Christian tradition, but often misunderstood and reduced to, “should I be a priest/nun or not?”

St. Ignatius Loyola offers a vision and a system of discernment that has helped countless people discover God’s will for their lives over the past 500 years. Join us as Ignatius helps us to understand a little better what the Church means when we say “discerning God’s will” and gives us concrete steps on just how to do it.

Fr. Adam Rosinski, SJ, grew up in Philadelphia, the oldest of four siblings, and attended the University of Scranton (go Royals!) where he met the Jesuits. He was ordained a priest in 2019 and served for a year as parochial vicar at St. Raphael Church, the Jesuit parish in Raleigh, NC. In July 2020, he began his new mission as the Assistant Director of Vocations for the Jesuits’ USA East Province in Manhattan. Fr. Rosinski is grateful to have received lots of very good training in spiritual direction and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius over the years, and directing people through the Spiritual Exercises is one of his favorite things to do as a Jesuit.
